The wavefront sensor by Laser Laboratorium Göttingen was designed for comprehensive laser beam and optics characterization.

The systems uses a micro-lense array for dividing the incoming beam into a large number of sub-rays. Intensity and position of the individual foci are monitored with the CCD sensor. These data enable the reconstruction of both beam profile and wavefront from a single measurement.
